The main difference between a cashier’s check and a certified check is where the money comes from. A certified check draws from funds in your personal account, while a cashier’s check draws from the bank’s funds, thus making the bank directly liable. For this reason, cashier’s checks are generally considered more secure; as a result, many businesses and individuals prefer them over certified checks.
